At this time, #YRDSB schools are expected to reopen on April 6. The Ontario Ministry of Education will take advice from public health regarding timing of school closures. #OntEd#CovidEDU

#randomactofkindnessday Ss developed their own Random Act of Kindness Calendar. They set a goal for each day in March and work towards the goal on daily basis to be a KIND person.
#pointofview Students collaboratively create narrative stories from both 1st and 3rd person’s view. They also made use of inference from skills to develop the story based on the picture in the middle.
#writingreflection Grade 4s are working on a narrative story told from the perspective of an animal who struggle in a natural disaster. One student reflected on his writing process and indicates the message he is trying to deliver through the story.
#3Dgeometry Ss are learning about the geometric attributes of 3-D figures (vertices, edges, and faces). I asked them how to find out the amount of vertices on a prism, and here’s their “short-cut” solution other than counting.
#inquirybasedlearning Ss used quadrilaterals to create a skyline of a town/ city. They also raised 3 math questions for their peers to answer and mesures angles of different types of triangles in their picture! #geometry
#perspective Ss listened to the Seven Blind Mouse guessing what is standing in their yard by touching one body part of it. Each of them only “saw” from his/her perspective. Putting all perspective together will give you the whole picture.
#pulleysandgears#grade4science Ss built machines using pulleys and gears. Ask your kids at home about how their machine works and how pulleys and gears make our work easier.
