It started with a discomfort with Swiss history. It has now become a plea for a more global and intersectional history of Europe. I tried to convince several Swiss universities of this idea. So far in vain. Fortunately there is "Past and Present".

A major Swiss newspaper titles excitedly "Trade prevents wars"!
But the cited research (by economists) deals *only* with the impact of trade on canals and straits. No mention of the "empirical data" the claim is based on. Historians, discuss...
