NEWS: Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson has committed to Indiana, sources confirmed to ESPN. First by @TheFieldOf68. First-team All-Conference USA pick averaged 20.5 points and shot 44.5% from 3. One of the best shooters in the portal and a critical pickup for Darian DeVries.
Creighton coach Greg McDermott just texted me this on his former assistant Darian DeVries getting the IU job:
"Drock is a grinder. His tireless work ethic and passion for bringing out the best in his players is unmatched. He is an outside of the box thinker on both ends of the floor. Indiana hit a home run."
NEWS: Legendary high school coach Kevin Boyle -- an 8-time national champion and future hall of famer -- will depart Montverde for Spire Academy at season's end, he told ESPN.

Recently, I heard a bona fide #iubb legend go on a local Indy radio show to defend @IndianaMBB’s head coach. He made the point that the NIL era makes it so hard to build teams and that our coach is building it the right way and he is the right guy to have on the sideline. #iubb has not finished better than 30th in the NET in the last 3 years and currently sits at 68th. Our average NET ranking under this regime is 60th.
But that’s not fair to just look at IU so I decided to look at all “new” coaches (in their 4th year or less) to see how their teams are doing in the NET this year (remember, IU is 68th) and I just focused on those that had a better NET ranking right now than our current coach has EVER had at the end of a season (30th). Surely there can’t be that many in the top 30 because it’s so hard to be good right now.
Todd Golden - Florida - Year 3 - #5
T.J. Otzelberger - Iowa State - Year 4 - #6
Mark Pope - Kentucky - Year 1 - #12
Tommy Lloyd - Arizona - Year 4 - #13
Grant McCasland - TT - Year 2 - #14
Shaka Smart - Marquette - Year 4 - #15
Kevin Willard - Maryland - Year 3 - #19
Dusty May - Michigan - Year 1 - #20
Chris Beard - Ole Miss - Year 2 - #21
Chris Jans - Mississippi St - Year 3 - #22
Rick Pitino - St. John’s - Year 2 - #23
Pat Kelsey - Louisville - Year 1 - #25
Dennis Gates - Missouri - Year 3 - #26
Jake Diebler - Ohio State - Year 1* - #28
Hmmm. Are all these coaches, MOST at programs that don’t have anywhere near the resources that our Coach has, just…lucky?
And if you are counting, that’s 14 of the top 30 ranked teams in the country according to NET that are coached by guys with the same amount of time at their school or less as our head coach. Four of them in year 1 and three of those have entirely new teams.
Weird.
