My hot take is that most of us have not adequately processed the trauma of the pandemic. And our sprawling, unprocessed trauma chews away at our brains in myriad ways that make us anxious about why we can’t seem to live our lives as instinctively or as joyously as we did in 2019.
i’ve shifted away from the “always put yourself first,” and moved into “remember yourself always.” there will be moments when situations ask you to consider more than just yourself. but you can always remember and take care of you.
anxiety can also manifest as irritability, annoyance, and anger. its very common and i think if more ppl knew this, then they’d be able to recognize their own anxiety. anxiety presents itself in so many ways
I know that I’m slowly coming out of my depressive episode when I finally reply to my friends who thankfully keep sending me stuff even when I’m not replying bc they have faith I’ll return to life eventually 🥲
