#Extend_Due_Date_Immediately
Story of every compliance season 👇
📅 1st week of September
“Please share all documents strictly on Google Drive.”
Why Drive? Why not Whatsapp
Because we need proper access, tracking and organised documentation throughout the process ,acess to staff also .
Client: “Yes, will do.”
📅 3rd week
Data finally arrives.
But… only half-baked. 🤦♂️
We review it, prepare the suspense/query list and send it back.
“Please resolve these queries within 3 days so we can proceed smoothly.”
Silence.
📅 Near the deadline
A call comes:
“Can we solve the queries on call?”
Me: “I don’t have time to sit on a call and note everything. Please send the complete details in Excel. I’ll review them systematically.”
Then comes the surprise:
“Some bank statements are still pending.”
And then…
“Why are you asking this at the last moment?” 🤦♂️
Seriously?
We asked for the documents in the first week of September.
We planned our work accordingly.
The delay wasn't created by the professional.
The delay happened because the required information wasn't provided on time.
And when the deadline approaches, suddenly the professional becomes responsible for the delay.
Meanwhile, professionals are sacrificing Sundays, late nights and personal time just to somehow complete other people's compliance work within the deadline.
At the last moment, we can't even say:
“Please take your work somewhere else.”
Because the responsibility is already with us and the deadline is standing over our heads.
Maybe compliance deadlines need to consider the actual time required to collect, verify, reconcile and review data—not just the date by which the return must be filed.
Professional cannot manufacture missing documents.

30 September 2026 — Tax Audit
Quality Audit = Better Compliance = Better Tax Administration

PLEASE POST & REPOST TODAY.
We urge the authorities to listen to stakeholders and rationalise the tax compliance due dates permanently.
There should be at least a two-month gap between the ITR filing due date and the Tax Audit due date to ensure quality compliance rather than last-minute pressure.
Tax professionals are working late nights and even Sundays to meet deadlines.
We are professionals, but we are human too. We have families and responsibilities.
A sustainable compliance framework benefits everyone.

30 September 2026 | Tax Audit
एक विनम्र professional appeal:
@FinMinIndia@PMOIndia@IncomeTaxIndia@theicai
India’s compliance ecosystem is not uniform.
A large corporate may have separate GST, Income Tax, Finance & Audit teams.
But many SMEs/MSMEs in Tier-2 & Tier-3 cities depend on outsourced/part-time accounting and smaller professional firms handling multiple compliances.
Policy timelines should also consider ground realities.
We are not asking to avoid compliance.
We are not asking to avoid audit.
We are asking for adequate practical time to perform professional responsibilities with the quality expected from a statutory audit process.
Better audit quality ultimately means better information and better tax administration.
If extension requests arise repeatedly, perhaps the discussion should not stop at:
“Why is extension being requested?”
We should also ask:
“Why does the system repeatedly reach this point?”
Can the compliance calendar be better synchronized?
Can information availability and reporting timelines be better aligned?
A humble request to the concerned authorities:
Please consider the practical difficulties being represented by professionals and taxpayers and take an objective view of the present Tax Audit timeline.
This is not Government vs CA.
This is not Taxpayer vs Government.
All stakeholders are part of the same compliance ecosystem.
Better Compliance → Better Reporting → Better Tax Administration → Better Revenue Assurance
We are not asking to avoid work or compliance.
We want to work.
We want to comply.
We want to deliver quality.
We are asking for an environment where professional responsibilities can be discharged with the quality, verification and professional judgment they deserve.
