Ternyata otak kita bisa dipengaruhi oleh self-talk, baik itu positif maupun negatif. Gue sering baca di buku pengembangan diri kalau self-talk itu bermanfaat dan ternyata ada penelitiannya.

Berikut penjelasan sederhananya:

-Self-talk positif, misalnya “Saya mampu”, “Saya berharga” dapat mengaktifkan jaringan otak yang terkait dengan motivasi, regulasi emosi, dan penghargaan diri.

-Self-talk negatif juga memengaruhi otak, dengan efek negatif jangka panjang. Namun ada penelitian yang menunjukkan bisa meningkatkan motivasi kita untuk suatu target tertentu.

Self-talk bahkan bisa memengaruhi konektivitas fungsional antar wilayah otak, serta berpotensi memicu perubahan jangka panjang melalui proses neuroplastisitas. Efek ini tidak terjadi secara “ajaib” atau instan pada setiap sel otak, melainkan bertahap melalui perubahan aktivitas dan komunikasi antar sel saraf.
