@nnevvinn The land thesis is Bitcoin's argument applied to physical space. When AI can produce anything infinitely, only provably fixed supply holds value. Abundance in what's reproducible, appreciation in what isn't. Crypto natives have been positioned since 2013.
Our future hinges on whether recursive self improvement will take us from cool coding agents to literal superintelligence.
The guys who wrote AI 2027 are extremely bullish on the tech, but very worried about where it leads us. Permanent totalitarian regime? Autonomous AIs taking control?
I sat down with @thlarsen and @romeovdean to learn what they think is required to reach techno utopia. There’s a lot in their proposal worth discussing.
Historically the AI safety community pushed for secrecy around AI research. The thinking went: the more insights are shared, the faster it will go, and we need more time for alignment research, so publishing and open source are bad.
But the AI Futures Project now recommends the opposite! They want to mandate open-sourcing the research and literal code used for training runs and inference (though not model weights), so the whole world can see what’s going on inside the labs and weigh in on it as we progress.
They think this would lead to frontier labs popping up all over the world, competing openly and sharing insights along the way. Almost a hybrid of academic and commercial development models.
As labs explore new approaches, anything that looks really risky would be debated openly and, potentially, banned for a period of time while control and alignment methods catch up.
Worldwide bans would be feasible by way of a multi-lateral treaty initially formed by the US and China. Global rules would trickle down to state/national regulations.
Compute would continue its massive scaling, with a catch: new datacenters would be equipped with chip destruction/disabling machinery and strategically located so that if the treaty broke down, each country would have power and incentive to destroy/disable their chips (rather than let their adversaries seize them), bringing us back to pre-2030 levels of compute. Mutually assured compute destruction (MACD), they call it.
Even with these controls, they think we’ll still have something like 4x growth in robots year over year leading the robot population to quickly eclipse humans and take over most jobs. They have an elegant idea for handling all the job loss: auction off a fixed annual supply of permits to robot makers and use the revenue to fund “citizen’s dividend” checks. Their econ model says we could pay people $1M/year for doing nothing by the mid 2030s. They forecast doublings of GDP for many years and extreme gains across most markets, as well as for land, one of the main remaining scarce resources in a scenario of abundance.
To a normie this all sounds completely nuts. To the truly AI pilled, it’s worth taking seriously.
Which are you?
Last week Xi Jinping formed the World AI Cooperation Organisation and said we need to avoid “loss of control” over AI.
This morning 1,224 employees of frontier US AI companies put out a statement saying: "We request that the U.S. government support an international effort to develop the technical and governance tools needed to deliberately pace the frontier of automated AI development."
But what would that actually look like?
According to the people who wrote AI 2027, it would mean: a US<>China deal in which every frontier lab’s research is continually open sourced for the world to examine, regulation developed along the way in response to new capabilities that look dangerous, and every new US or Chinese datacenter rigged to self-disable if the deal breaks down.
Theirs may be the most developed vision for international coordination on AI to date.
Even with treaties and regulations to slow things down, they forecast GDP doubling year over year, billions of AIs and robots taking most jobs, a cap-and-trade robot permit plan paying out $1M “citizen’s dividend” checks by 2035, and full superintelligence by 2040.
When I asked @thlarsen and @romeovdean to forecast growth of AI stocks their chart was parabolic. They also think land (which robots can’t make more of) will skyrocket in value.
If they’re right about the effects of recursive self improvement… we are in for an extremely wild ride 🥵😳

Win $1,000 just by creating a video 👀
We’re challenging you to make the most viral, entertaining, or educational video about DTFs (Decentralized Token Folios), and yes, there’s real money on the line. 😮💨
Here’s how you can earn… ⬇️🧵
Imagine building a stable, inflation-resistant currency.
Not for hedge funds.
Not for central banks.
For people.
Just a developer with a mission and a smart contract.
But in traditional finance, that’s not allowed.
Power isn’t earned. It’s granted.
The problem isn’t tech.
It’s permission.
TradFi didn’t innovate.
They fenced it off.
That’s why Reserve exists.
A permissionless platform to launch Decentralized Token Folios (DTFs) — indexes and asset-backed currencies that function like ETFs, but onchain.
Every RToken is:
🌐 Fully backed
🌐 Openly governed
🌐 Instantly mintable
No licenses. No rent-seeking. Just access.
TradFi says it’s for your safety.
They mean it’s for their rent.
The future of money won’t be patented.
It will be open. Governable. For everyone.
Why are freelancers around the world choosing stablecoins over banks? 🤔
The answer is simple: time is money, and banks waste both!
Freelancing is global now.
Remote workers everywhere are connecting with clients across borders. But there’s still one big headache: slow, expensive bank transfers.
Let’s break it down 🧵⬇️
