Today is the bar exam in my state and I woke up extremely nauseous thinking about it. I already took it a year ago and passed. The trauma haunts you forever.
What’s your best mentoring advice for law students in 5 words or less, even if it’s super cheesy (even better!)?
My (very lame) line from earlier this week:
“Litigation is all about collaboration.”
@BarExamTutor I didn’t take Barbri (opted for Kaplan), but to me it seemed like my friends who chose Barbri were constantly busy with so many more tasks. Always seemed like too much to me.
@rkschiz Oh boy. Enjoy. This week I had to explain to my fiancé why it’s necessary to wear deodorant to the gym, even if he plans on showering after... men are... interesting
My sense is that a lot of practicing attorneys and legal academics have no idea just how bad the bar exam situation is for 2020 graduates right now. I want to share a bit about what's going on for me and my peers right now.
Incoming 1Ls: get ready for your Con Law final this year to be “Can state/federal governments require citizens to wear face masks on public during a pandemic?”
I can see it now 😂
Lawyers out there - if you say you’re willing to be a mentor, please follow through. I’ve reached out to a handful of people in the last year that promised to always be available to help, only to hear nothing but crickets from their end. It’s very disheartening.
@LCaffeinated I have this couch! I love it so much. The most comfortable couch ever. The seats are wide which makes it perfect for lounging. And the back cushions are nice and soft but don’t sag at all. Only bad I thing is that there’s not a lot of room for a coffee table with it
@_notbrooke Honestly I’d recommend taking them with pen and paper. It’s been proven to boost retention and helps you eliminate the distractions of technology.
@TaylorOSoule Sounds like you’re right on track 😂 I felt that way every day until I got the email telling me I passed. Somehow made it through. You will too
@law_champagne If you can, which I imagine is easier especially now, negotiate as much as you can over email. It’s easier to be bold. And ask about any signing/dealership fees. They like to hide those.
