Teach your kids about Ruby Bridges, the first Black child at an all-white public elementary school in Louisiana.
She turned 71 this year. She's only 71.
Working from Columbus this week & shocked at the extent of both the prewar, pre-car neighborhoods and also the quality of the new construction
These are brand new brownstone-style townhouses, classic but not pastiche. Unbelievable placemaking
You know, Lord, the heart of the city: its lights and shadows, its noise and loneliness. Lord, may our urban communities be open and welcoming homes, places where hope is shared, where no one feels invisible, and where the joy of your Gospel shines in the hidden lives of so many brothers and sisters. The War Horse—an independent, nonprofit newsroom that covers the U.S. military reported that the Pentagon drastically undercounted injuries from the war in Iran by omitting a massive single-day spike in casualties and failing to publicly disclose hundreds of wounded troops.
The reporting detailed the following discrepancies in casualty figures:
•Hidden Daily Toll: Newly obtained records showed more than 400 casualties were recorded between February 28 and April 8. This included 70 casualties on a single day (March 18), which the Pentagon never publicly reported.
•
•Traumatic Brain Injuries: The data showed at least 170 troops suffered head trauma—making it the most common injury—despite the fact that President Trump historically dismissed such injuries as just "headaches".
•
•Database Omissions: The documents revealed 17 life-threatening casualties during the first phase of the war, providing granular detail far beyond the Pentagon's official Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) website.
•
The nonprofit's investigation prompted lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee to demand answers, with some representatives publicly stating the Pentagon appeared to be "lying about the casualties of fallen soldiers to continue justifying Donald Trump's war of choice with Iran".
Shout out to Reuters and ABC for pushing this story, but this should be fucking everywhere.
The most openly corrupt individual this country has ever seen. No one else comes close.
The Trump crime family sued Capital One for shutting down 300 Trump bank accounts saying it’s was because of politics.
Capital One just replied, it was actually because of a money laundering review…
This should be much bigger news.
Yesterday at Pumphrey Day, the neighborhood came out to celebrate Catherine Mapp's new mural – one of several projects the county and state have funded to make sure our public spaces are loved, vital, and beautiful. Also great to meet legend Lloyd Keaser!
