I think you have a misconception about how the company can corner the artists to take a decision
For EXAMPLE, if the company won't give you a serie for the next year, wouldn't you start questioning? If the company would keep giving you nothing, wouldn't you start questioning? If the company end up giving you a good offer but you have to break up, would you question it?
Yeah, probably is always "mutual agreement" but when you have "keep together and get nothing" or "break up and have more opportunities (hopefully in both sides)" how much of that is "mutual agreement"?

And anyway blaming the company don't hurt anyone, can you let the fans cope in peace?
