With the reconvened Public Inquiry presently still due to begin on 13th April (pending a seemingly overdue response from @nieae), it would be appreciated if as many people as possible took the time to sign, share and support this campaign for accessibilty:

V. interesting development announced by @SaveOurSperrins this afternoon following their recent legal action against @Economy_NI following the Department's decision to ride roughshod over local consensus & popular (99.5%) opinion & questionably grant 7 mineral prospecting licences
Reminder that representatives from @SaveOurSperrins & @CAIM_network were interviewed at The @Greencastleblog (GPO) for tonight's @utv 'View from Stormont' programme, which airs in less than half an hour's time, at 10:45pm.👀

EJNI has produced a useful and informative briefing paper that details:
1️⃣ background information on the mining application
2️⃣ the submission process and who can/ how to respond
3️⃣ why transboundary consultation is important on the island of Ireland at this time 🗻🌊
The proposed gold mining activities in the Sperrins raise a series of environmental justice concerns…
Incl. the failure to undertake proper transboundary consultation!

Having noticed that the @Economy_NI website map seemed to be several years out of date I requested an update with the new Mineral Prospecting Licences noted.
Sobering information into the advances of a completely unsustainable industry.
Have contacted @Dept_ECC for similar info.
After lobbying @fermanaghomagh for years it's great to see them acknowledging & opposing the flawed @Economy_NI process which is in essence a 'presumption in favour' of granting mineral prospecting licences
The total lack of community engagement is evident & needs to be addressed
It'll be very interesting to see how the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive will impact on the threat of toxic extractivism not only in the Sperrins AONB, but across the island as the number of prospecting licences granted by greedy government department's grows.
