Finished the first chapter of my redraft for #Phoenixwip and…woah. I feel like sometimes I stick with a story, overwork it into oblivion, and then there’s no new direction for it to take. But this redraft feels like cutting off all that dead weight and I’m really enjoying it!!!
Feels weird being back…
Me in a nutshell:
- I’ve got a BS in Psych and a BA in English Writing now!!
- Done with my internship, starting work with a new literary journal now 🤫👀
- Rewriting #PhoenixWip again. lol. But it’s so fun!
What’d I miss? How’s everyone? ❤️
Time has been flying by so fast that I completely forgot to announce another update, so here it is:
I’ve become a literary intern at Whitefish Review! 😋
I just want you all to know that it’s OKAY if you queried your book before it was ready. It’s okay if you had no idea what a query letter was and just TRIED. Most people (me included) did this. It doesn’t mean you won’t succeed.
It’s okay to make mistakes. You’re on the path.
We are honored to publish Karen Elizabeth's YA story "The Bird Bag" as the Young Adults Write YA Contest 3rd Place Winner. Go forth and read it at: https://t.co/tt2oS0XZy8 🐦👝
Update: I have a week to find a job, find a place to stay, pack my things and leave. We have broken up, and that's the timeframe he's giving me.
I currently have $1k, for which I am incredibly grateful. Any extra help is beyond appreciated, given the deadline I'm under.
Want to read something cool?
My short story, “The Bird Bag,” just won its second award and publication in Uncharted Magazine!! 🦜💚
