We can all be refugees
Nobody is safe,
All it takes is a mad leader
Or no rain to bring forth food,
We can all be refugees
We can all be told to go,
We can be hated by someone
For being someone.
- Benjamin Zephaniah, 'We Refugees'

This beautiful film featuring @realkikideville, patron of @DerianHouse children's hospice, explains why bereaved families desperately want you to talk about their child and recognise their grief

People working in hospices, care homes, hospitals and other care settings often experience deaths where they work, but this doesn’t mean each death is any easier to cope with.
We spoke to @Caring_Times about professional grief and how to manage it: https://t.co/sYHfZnSc5B
And after all this, after the clapping and the banging on pans, and being given a commemorative thank you badge, this year doctors and nurses have been taking industrial action over pay and conditions. The staff who deal with these sort of situations.

The Covid inquiry is very hard listening for many and I think especially healthcare workers. I wrote throughout the pandemic about the experience of being a paediatrician.
As a palliative care doctor, I find this contempt for human life to be foul.
You can be old & have value. You can be disabled & have value. You can be in the last days of your life & yet you still have value.
No-one is worthless & no-one but no-one deserves to be culled.

1. Despatch of a paramedic crew doesn't always come from 999 call. 111 calls can be escalated/trigger an emergency response.
Caller may want clinician advice, fully aware of anticipated dying & DNACPR decision.

@doctor_oxford@Chrisitv People don’t realise either, so many of the families of the children I care for a shocked that we are a charity and not NHS funded.
Everyone should be able to access the help they need in an emergency.
If you're a British Sign Language user, how can you reach 999? Ask us: https://t.co/qunP7UYArN
“Every time I wasn’t quiet just to keep the peace. Every time I said no, when I really meant no. Every time I didn’t let a sound engineer assume I wouldn’t be playing the drum kit."
