@literacybigkids Yes and if my students have a religion, it is Christianity. Very small rural community. My reason for doing in December is I’m revamping an old curriculum, and I can only do so much change to it in one year without losing my sanity!

@goss_ms @ncte Figuring out the best way to tackle the grading in a way that best serves the students changes every year for me. Last year it was centers. This year it’s whole group/ slowing it wayyy down and chunking it up.

Once more for the folks in the back row, if you claim you are giving kids reading choices, but you restrict and define every book they are "allowed" to read, you are not giving them choice at all.

I used to give kids a hard time for needing a pencil. Went into last year w this idea and it saved my sanity and helped my students. (Also- I still went thru the same amount of pencils.) Try it this year!
