Reminds me of needing to prove my reusable shopping bags where empty when I walked into a Dollar General. An authoritarian employer AND shopping experience.
The dollar store industry is a mess. Chronic understaffing means there’s often just one employee in the store. This woman got locked in when that employee went to use the bathroom.
When access to a bathroom becomes a benefit of a job there is something very problematic happening. Workers simply can’t find another job when the Dollar Stores/ Dollar General might be one of the limited local employers.
