“I’ll start creating content when I find the time.”
That's the dumbest mindset you can have...
You don’t find time, you make it.
While you wait for the perfect moment, others are posting, learning, and growing.
Get to work!
I reviewed well 200+ video editor portfolios and I keep seeing the same mistakes that GUARANTEES not getting clients.
- Having way too many videos to review with different styles, niches, etc.
- Copy paste effects, same exact templates. 99% of portfolios look EXACTLY the same.
- Having graphic designer, virtual assistant, crypto enthusiast, thumbnail expert as your title. You’re not fooling anyone, it is obvious you are trying to make money with whatever and not taking any of it seriously.
- Branding yourself as an agency and using ‘we’ or ‘my team’ in your website. When I ask how big the team is, it is usually just the editor trying to become an agency. I have no problem with this, but the client will be confused and will want to hire an individual.
I constantly hire video editors and what I’m looking for when I review a portfolio is:
The editor’s intuition.
It’s not something you can have within a few months.
Just by looking at someone’s portfolio I can tell if they’re taking it seriously or just trying to grab a quick $.
A lot of you aren’t creating organic content because you don’t know where to start. I get it I was in the same boat. And let’s be honest with an obnoxious amount of information and no clear direct path how are you supposed to know?
In this post I’m gonna give you three action items to move forward on if you’ve told yourself that you’re going to start creating content in 2024, and still have not… (let’s be honest 99% of you)
1. Stop overthinking it. Grab your iPhone sit down with one of your friends and start talking about your experiences and the things you’ve learned.
2. Don’t make what you want to make, make content you wish you had access to when you first were getting started. Be of VALUE!!
3. Stop trying to do it all. Get someone to support you in the ideation process, get an editor, get a creative Director, stop trying to do it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 things you will not regret doing:
1) Investing in yourself
2) Building a tough mind and soft heart
3) Building your own Business
4) Spending time with your loved ones
5) Not caring about what others think of you
Life is simple, we usually are the ones who make it hard.
If you’re a business owner, I guarantee you have too much on your plate.
Admin, marketing, operations, calls.
And you don’t have enough time to focus on what matters.
Selling.
You’re stressing yourself out, and you’re not even making money from it.
You need to systemize.
My favorite short-form video strategy for startups and entrepreneurs is creating fans by just giving away a ton of value for free with no expectation of return.
Getting in the habit of documenting your day with short videos is one of the best things you can do for yourself because, in a world of endless creative opportunities, it allows you to show the growth you have while you are building your company!
You can't fail when you:
1. Take daily action
2. Track your progress
3. Look back to analyze
4. Recognize the mistakes
5. Write areas to improve
6. Keep looking forward
The past is only a lesson.
