We live in a society so divorced from truth that if you speak it, unadulterated, the response will be to attack you for saying it by those who hate it openly, and attack you for HOW you said it, but those who hate it secretly. People pretend to demand truth, yet when confronted with truth, they demand you present it in a way that makes them feel good, in an impossible way, otherwise they will reject it, and claim that is your fault. It's truly pathetic. If I say two plus two is four, some will scream that it actually could be 5, and they will reference some pseudoscience about quantum physics. Others will screech that I didn't explain that two plus two does NOT equal six first, so we can't even discuss two plus two. Some will complain that four could also be the answer of 3 plus 1, sixteen divided by 4, or the absolute value of 87635 minus 87631. Still yet others will complain that I didn't show my work, and demand a citation. Someone will inevitably complain that two plus two isn't important, and that I should be focused on 2 times 2, which also equals four. Another will claim math is stupid, and also racist. Penultimately, someone will say math hurts their feelings, so no one should be allowed to talk about it, and 2 plus 2 especially causes people to die. Finally, someone will tell me that I shouldn't say 2 plus two equals four, but instead, I should say that two plus two MIGHT equal four, and maybe two plus two equals five on Saturdays, and that two plus two also equals purple, and because I didn't say that, it's my fault that people reject math in general. No one will simply admit that 2 plus 2 equals 4.
