It is very important to allow for the students to find what works for them, rather than getting told to do a cookie-cutter way of math

@KernCMC @Mathgarden This is true because the portfolio can be used for their future: jobs, college applications, etc. And if the students know the importance of the portfolio, they will be more inclined to actively participate.

@KernCMC @Mathgarden A portfolio assignment would be very beneficial. The students would keep their work in a single location where they can view their progress on the assignments/tasks. This portfolio is also beneficial for the idea that the students will be more engaged and collaborative.

To eliminate this dormant state, allow the children explore the numbers and play games with them to tremendously increase the engagement and their love for math. Give them good experiences for them to remember and cherish.

I also firmly believe that for subjects like math, which can be very intimidating to most, having activities that make it enjoyable is very important.

@KernCMC #MathRecess should be where the students are able to feel free of any anxiety or stress that comes from math, i.e. fun, colorful posters around the room. We should adopt a kindergarten mindset because we want the students to have fun and enjoy the subject of math.
