Finland is not fixated on their students' test scores, but rather that students are happily learning. The U.S. can learn positive behaviors and strategies from Finland. #EDEL5200

@KernCMC @Mathgarden For a playground to keep growing, we need to create an environment where teachers welcome all students to explore and engage with curiosity. Games' role in math has a variety of sequences that can be played and every person will have a different game play situation. #EDEL5200

@KernCMC @Mathgarden These practices are not useful in creating a positive learning environment. Grades place students in rankings and collaboration is not fully practiced. Grading on a curve halts productive struggle since the goal is to do well enough, not to truly learn & grow. #EDEL5200

@KernCMC @Mathgarden We can wake up the love of math that is dormant for students by allowing them to explore, play, engage, but also challenge. Many students have been taught to sit in a chair and complete work quietly however we as teachers need to wake up that love for math. #EDEL5200

@KernCMC @Mathgarden Dice games, UNO, and Mancala all promote math skills and memories with students, friends, and families. These are just a few of the games that engage people to play again. Memories will be created for students that will want to play again if it is viewed as fun. #EDEL5200
