@TaylorHargis9 @KernCMC @Mathgarden I agree that education should foster happiness. It is true that students are being pushed very hard to learn all the material in order to do well on a test. Once that test is taken, they are asked to quickly move on to the next concept, possibly without complete understanding.

They are more concerned with student happiness, play, and exploration rather than test scores and homework. Teachers should not predetermine that some students will fail. I agree that it does not promote a positive learning environment

@KernCMC @Mathgarden Learning is the purpose for teaching students. An education system that emphasizes learning over grades would provide students will a better math experience. Grades are for sorting, not for encouraging. Most teachers in ungraded settings report a rise in understanding. #EDEL5200

@JMullich @KernCMC @Mathgarden @MathRecess I agree that patience is much needed. I feel that students no longer find enjoyment in struggling to solve a problem. They want it done right then and there and give up too soon. We definitely need to teach our students independence and patience. These traits will be beneficial.

@KernCMC @Mathgarden We should select math problems for our students that are challenging and fun. We should allow them to make their own discoveries and allow them to struggle. We should teach them to value the problem and give them good experiences that engage their curiosity. #EDEL5200

I agree that games can create fun memories with math. All of those games are great ideas and I think should definitely be utilized, at home or even in the classroom! I feel Monopoly could be very beneficial because it can help students in everyday life (counting money)

@KernCMC @Mathgarden Instruction that is integrated, play-based,and multi sensory captures children's imagination. Play is important to healthy brain development and can help students enjoy math. Students should be given a deeper understanding of math versus passive approaches. #EDEL5200

I agree that students should be trained to use computers and softwares because technology is the future and is becoming critical. Students having access to computers is also very important.

I think it is a great idea to introduce programs/software's at an early age. They will become more comfortable with these programs and can lead to future success as they grow older!

I agree that websites like ClassDojo allow you to keep track of students and contact parents. That is a great example. It is a great way to collaborate with parents and keep parents involved!

I agree that is has been really great learning how to create and add to our own websites! When I saw we would be making our own website, I was really worried, but it was fairly simple and will be useful in our futures!

I also found Google to be extremely important and helpful. I now feel more comfortable using google docs and forms. This class has been very helpful in regards to showing us more resources.
