If cows are causing climate change, then how come the planet wasn't buckling under the seismic numbers of wild ruminants that used to roam the grassy plains?
North America, for example, currently has about 48 million cattle, including dairy cows.
But back in the 19th century, the Great Plains hosted 60 million bison.
During that same period, North America also had 10 million elk. These populations were then swiftly driven to the point of near-extinction.
And by some artful logic, the smaller number of cattle that exist in North America today, are THE problem driving climate change.
