For sure and I do agree that it seems like most people vocally complaining about it were more upset over the guaranteed 100% over the background. Me personally, I think the background is way cooler and given some of the eBay listings for them, seems like enough also care about the background too since those IVs reroll anyway.
As someone who watched the event from home, I totally get all the posts of people who went and had the time of their lives. They got to get probably one of the most exclusive Pokémon to have ever existed in the game with a special New York background and guaranteed 100% stats. They got to be a part of a really special moment that has been culminated since one of the first ever trailers for this game teasing a moment similar to this in Times Square back in 2016. This moment was 10 years in the making and after what I’d presume a lot of planning, hard work, and money, Scopely made it happen.
AND…
I get why people are upset this occurred. All the time, resources, and planning that went to ensure this event would be memorable and amazing for players who got to attend was also put on display for the 99.9999% of other players to watch with absolutely no way to experience it themselves and no way of even acquiring this exclusive Mewtwo outside of trades, which will also be incredibly hard to come by. I’ve seen people compare this to the Eternatus release at Worlds 2025 but this isn’t an early release that others can still get globally later. This is a guaranteed 100% Mewtwo with a background that highlights the iconic 2016 trailer that will not be distributed globally. And for an event that thanks “every Trainer who has been part of this [10 year] journey,” was only awarding a select amount of players with this coveted 10 year anniversary encounter and in person experience the thanks players expected and wanted after all the hype around it? Most players would probably say no.
Either way, what’s done is done.
I think it’s ridiculous that anyone going to/invited to the event should get hate for it. To my knowledge, they didn’t even know what was in store for them and they’re allowed to be excited about a perfect Mewtwo with the New York background. Who wouldn’t be?
I also think it’s ridiculous that others can’t empathize with those who are frustrated with the event and the exclusivity of it. Countless players have spent large portions of their lives and a lot of money on this game for multiple years to a decade. And at the pinnacle of the 10 years, they get to watch a secret and exclusive event through their monitors like a kid outside of a candy store, a candy store that they’ll never be able to enter. I get it.
Anyway, there’s a lot of hate and anger this world already. Let’s not direct hate back and forth towards players who got to attend and players who are frustrated with the event happening. I’m sure Scopely staff are fully aware of the feedback and reception, and hopefully the 20th anniversary is much more inclusive so that in some way, shape, and form, all of us get a chance to enter the candy store. ❤️
To every Trainer who has been part of this journey:
Thank you. 🥹♥️

I genuinely don't think it's possible to hit Legend this season at this point in time if you're not playing Competitors Cup or open Great League when that rolls back around.
That being said, I'm still playing the limited cups instead and here's how I climbed a TON and went a 14-0 win streak with a Ledian!

While watching @CalebPeng’s video on “Fundos” in Pokémon GO (15/15/14 IV Pokémon with stats identical to a hundo) I realized how long it took him using PvPoke to figure out if a given Pokémon would be a fundo or not. So, I created a page to do that faster: https://t.co/45oF63xXgJ
I often get asked if any sub-optimal IV spreads are worth powering up for Master League.
Here's a detailed explaination before you spend a ton of dust and XL candies:
