That the term "Asian" is more strongly associated with adult content than food, language, history, and other aspects of culture says a lot about how Western society views Asians and less about iOS.
I think Korean fried chicken is closer to 깐풍기 or Szechuan fried chicken than American fried chicken

Maybe it was influenced by both. There's no historical evidence it came from GIs. But East Asians have been frying chicken forever
