comparing "asian pop" with jazz or country categories when those are music GENRES and the other one is a geographical label i knew americans weren't the brightest but it will always surprise me
adele is not american yet she beat beyonce in 2017. why didn’t they make a british grammy for her ? why did they make a traditional country category when beyonce won? “asian” is even not a genre and it’s not just limited to kpop. segregating music by ethnicity is fucking WEIRD

Bad bunny, Shakira's fandom and all African fans seriously making me cry, they're the one who understood why bts did and how much it was needed to bring a change, if only k-pop industry and asian acts supported them the same way...
it’s a win for us. any group that does submit for a category that was created to segregate Asian artists will go down in history as spineless and desperate. BTS have integrity, self-respect, and strength in genuine support— the most admirable award there is.
And nobody will be standing next to BTS in this battle btw in fact the kpop industry will celebrate them not submitting instead of standing up with them against this blatant xenophobia
BTS will not submit music for consideration at next year’s Grammy Awards, members of the K-pop supergroup announced, a little over a month after the Recording Academy confirmed that the 2027 ceremony will include an Asian pop music performance category for the first time. https://t.co/XMBE6NjpOi
BTS announced their hiatus. When nobody expected them to. They fulfilled their country's national duty. Without hesitation. They came back after four years. People doubted them. Said they were over. Said the industry had moved on. Then they released ARIRANG. The biggest. The boldest. The most artistically ambitious projects of the year. Ended the Western Darlings.
And now they've chosen NOT to submit their music to the Grammys, taking a stand against a system they believe categorizes music by region and language.
That's power. Not chasing the industry.
That's how history is written. That's how the industry changes.
and notice how everything’s written in korean and there’s not a single english word in sight. they really said you wanna know what i’m saying, go ahead and translate it then
Anyone who was here since 2021 knows how big this is, bts has always been treated like shit by them nonstop for years dragged along for views but never truly acknowledged. This category addition was the most ridiculous thing yet so I couldn’t be more proud of the tannies decision
