@ironatcox@Midnattsstjarna@maoreidong some people do self harm because they want to suffer, but for a lot of ppl it's genuinely pleasant or calming, and that's why it's hard to quit. it was the only anger management tool i had as a kid that worked
@buriedwar@Luceniken_MKII@noogiyuu@georgeofakind@ANerdNamedJerry sesta fosta is an extremely poorly written law which is supposed to make twitter liable for this exact thing (online platforms are not liable for the content people post on them, sesta fosta creates an exemption for csam) but ofc because elon is chummy with the president
@Luceniken_MKII@noogiyuu@buriedwar@georgeofakind@ANerdNamedJerry i remember reading about this (can't find the article now) and it said that the clips themselves were rarely actual csam, just random videos of children, that way they don't get taken down as quickly and it's just to bait ppl into dm-ing them so they can be led to a more secure
@RealGarunDoctor@TcTechnetium@mithseal it's vastly more complicated than that. unless you think grizzly bears and polar bears are the same species (can produce offspring that are fertile)
@Zer1114704@TcTechnetium@mithseal it's dubbed "the species problem". genetics do play a huge role, and species splits/mergers don't happen without strong genetic evidence for it, but it really can't be the only piece of it or our entire idea of a species falls apart
@Zer1114704@TcTechnetium@mithseal it's a very old and contentious topic that many many scientists have argued about for as long as the modern idea of evolution has existed! darwin famously wrote that "I was much struck how entirely vague and arbitrary is the distinction between species and varieties." lol.
@Zer1114704@TcTechnetium@mithseal there are a lot of organizations in charge of managing the consensus around where these species lines are. for the giraffe split, it was the IUCN, which you can read about here, https://t.co/G8lBu64tiC for birds in american it's the american ornithological society
@Zer1114704@TcTechnetium@mithseal how different "different enough" is to determine species lines is completely arbitrary. for example, brown bears and grizzlies are one species, but wolves and coyotes are not.
@seiyahomer4iz forgot to switch accounts aaaaa. but yeah i just think this is a little mean spirited towards someone who obviously has put a lot of effort into those edits
@WhappyRain small town pharmacy and a really old pharmacist, i legit don't think she had ever heard of the concept of a trans man. i drove two hours to pick it up in a diff town
@WhappyRain i had a pharmacist refuse to sell me plan b after i was raped bcz she needed to "talk to the lady" and was convinced i was a guy buying it for my girlfriend, and then got really concerned for my girlfriend that didn't exist, and then i had a panic attack in the parking lot lmao
@algae_fish i remember someone telling my transfem friend not to complain about her height since she was "only" 5'7 even tho she was filipino and and living in the philippines........
@Eisentower30v2@IndyJaws1@JesseRogersESPN i can't find a good source on it, but it seems like the original wall was a mix of both. maybe the bittersweet is just having a good year
@Eisentower30v2@IndyJaws1@JesseRogersESPN i don't know when they started doing it, but the ivy is actually a mix of boston ivy and japanese bittersweet. if i remember right, it's so it fills in faster during the spring
