Mirra Andreeva on beating Kostyuk to reach Roland Garros final
"I just told myself that no matter what happens, I'm just gonna fight, give my best. If she ends up winning, she's gonna have to really work for it. With this mindset, I ended up winning."
Updates from Geno:
- Jovana Popovic is expected to arrive in Storrs later this week, they’re hoping to have a better idea on Marine Dursus’ status tomorrow.
- UConn won’t travel to Florida St. this season, TBD on when that’ll happen
- Morgan Cheli is back healthy and on the court
Geno on losing in the Final Four: “I think my team is going to be way more prepared this year… It's okay every once in a while to come up short. It's no disgrace, it's no embarrassment. It's another opportunity to learn.”
Geno Auriemma gave an update on Morgan Cheli's progress in her recovery:
"She's doing great. She's worked really hard. I think she's had a tough go of it trying to get back on the court. You don't realize it, but it's been a long time since she's played. I think she's good to go."
Geno on Sarah Strong entering her junior year: “What sticks with her is we lost. I think that’s probably what’s going to drive her this coming year, more so than, ‘I was National Player of the Year, I have to prove that again.’ No. ‘We lost and I have to prove that I can win.’”
KAT:
"I just felt a calm and a peace that had to be come from the woman above (his mom). I felt like a kid. It was just fun out here. It felt like I was a kid getting ready to go play my Saturday AAU games and Sunday AAU games. In a way I felt like I was seeing her in the stands"
