One thing is clear tonight: the Duterte-allied Senate bloc is willing to plunge the institution into chaos and to weaponise fear, all to shield one of their own from accountability.
Thank you, former Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, for unearthing the 1875 Carta General del Archipiélago Filipino.
For seven years, Justice Carpio traveled to Madrid, Spain, and various parts of the United States in pursuit of an original print of this historic map. He recently donated a copy to the National Library of the Philippines, where it now serves as a key historical document.
The 1875 Carta General is one of the most complete and detailed official Spanish maps of the Philippine archipelago. It clearly depicts important Philippine territories, including:
• Los Bajos de Paragua (the reef systems historically associated with the Spratly Islands, now known as Palawan’s Kalayaan Island Group)
• Panacot (also called Bajo de Masinloc or Scarborough Shoal off the coast of Zambales)
This map strengthens the historical basis for the Philippines’ position over these features, as it was later adopted and reissued by the United States War Department after the Spanish-American War.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution, a historic movement that led to the ouster of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos and the restoration of democracy in the Philippines. #EDSA40

To the Chinese Embassy in Manila: I have no problem respecting and recognizing the One China policy. In return China should respect the Philippines’ 500,000 square kilometers of our EEZ under the UNCLOS by abandoning their RIDICULOUS and ILLEGAL claim of 90 percent of the West Philippine/South China Sea.
To borrow the American saying, ‘If you can dish it out, you should learn to take it’.
We respect China’s view that Taiwan is part of China but China should respect our position that the Philippines’ EEZ is NOT part of China AND, for that matter, we are not and will never be a province of China.
We respect the Chinese people but we will never bow down to Xi Jinping’s illegal policy claims in the region. NEVER.
Speaking of being reminded, we would like to redpectfully remind China that the Philippine Senate showed the United States of America the door in 1991 by rejecting the 1991 RP-US Bases Treaty. We said NO to the world’s only superpower then in upholding our sovereignty. Whether the US or China, no world superpower can be allowed to intimidate us.
Don’t me. Don’t us.*

After the deadly water cannon attack on the Filipino fishermen, it is necessary to give a strong message to China: TO STOP AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOUR.
No nation will tolerate China treating the South China Sea as its backyard to bully, threaten & pollute at will.
This lawless behavior must end, NOW.
CLASH OF NARRATIVES: PHILIPPINES VS CHINA AT THE SEOUL DEFENSE DIALOGUE 2025 |
At the Seoul Defense Dialogue 2025, Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. delivered a strong message: sovereignty and security must stand on international law and unity with allies.
When a Chinese delegate dismissed the arbitral ruling, painted China as a “peace-loving” nation, and attacked alliances as “Cold War blocs,” Teodoro’s reply cut sharp:
“China had the golden opportunity if they had joined the arbitration… But they chose not to—maybe because they feared they might lose.”
This was more than words—it was a stand for Filipino dignity, fisherfolk’s safety, OFW protection, and peace in our region. From the Battle of Yultong to the West Philippine Sea, Filipino valor endures across generations. Share this video to show the world: Alliances protect communities. Sovereignty is non-negotiable.

‘GAWIN NATIN KAHIYA-HIYA MULI ANG KATIWALIAN’
Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Cardinal Pablo David, in a pastoral letter, stresses that real justice demands not only punishment for the perpetrators but also returning what was stolen to the Filipino people.
He also urged the youth to use their digital world to actively expose corruption and push for accountability.
