@omegacloud@pokehuntdotfun It's not really about scalpers. People who try to get Pokemon cards have been disruptive to my store. They fight each other for position outside, block checklanes inside, hide product, hassle the vendor. It's more than just "but muh cards", I hope you understand.
@TheDadLife@pokehuntdotfun I think that it's safer to think of Pokemon as blind, not benevolent. They only care that people pick up what they put down. Scalpers instantly mask the signs of dropping organic interest, the mark of a speculative bubble. That ain't something they can see by their metrics.
@Aspensqueezy Vtubing is so tragic because it attracts personality traits that don't necessarily thrive within it, except one. The only one that truly thrives in it is the narcissistic sociopath.
@2SoonBoon IMO it's not about AI per se, it's more that fear loss of relevancy or being taken over, streamers don't feel that compared that to how artists are threatened by AI. More likely streamer opinions are motivated by keeping good optics, ie bad is ok if the image is still good.
@miloisdone I see the disconnect, artists often try to leverage what they got and they tend to skew more intricate systems, options and rights. And buyers just be like "I don't want to think too hard". It feels different from the old days where artists simplified concepts, ie adoptables.
@alistjpeg Oh it turns out that being a Vtuber is like running a business and people care more about what you offer them than what they give to you. Hmmm...
For people who don't understand why it's annoying, it is that when the strat grows, they start tearing up the aisles to see if there's any hidden ones, and go under the baseboards, but they won't put anything back. Big hassle.
@nyankoislove Time and labor are costs. Value is more than that. Value is time, cost, utility, leverage, market opportunity. The whole point of why people produce things is because the value that results is greater than sum of cost. Just saying.
@HiyoHeyo@moonfloat_ I wanted to point out: dynamic pricing can eventually lead to accusations of discrimination. Criticism always pops up when there are judgment calls. Even if in bad faith, drama can ruin you for a time. Something to consider.
@Takoluka1@dreamy_dullahan I'm not convinced. Even in link it says that DAP and not DDP is more recommended when you don't have a IOR, unlikely that DDP will materialize IOR that is needed to maintain CPCs. If you use DHL as import broker, DHL would be IOR. Would they want to maintain CPCs for Ami? Nah.
@chabranigdo@milkkirie I imagine they probably got...zero takers! I'm just honest, I think mentally the art market thinks they're still indie, but their goals are lofty. Market buyers haven't come to terms they're no longer just hobbyists, many legit trying to make income. Stakes are higher now.
@Takoluka1@dreamy_dullahan I get what you're saying, but I don't think it meets the requirements. From what I heard, DDP is an agreement saying Amiami agreed to pay duty fees. It doesn't result in IOR which is necessary for maintaining CPCs.
@Takoluka1@dreamy_dullahan Yeah, I think I had to get some clarification on the other stuff but I think a major disadvantage Amiami has is lack of company in US though because it seems like some of the process requires people to actively defend and explain with proof.
@PortlyPen@dreamy_dullahan You right, I compared to how Funkopops get through, it's not through HTS, it's more of having labeling of ages 14+ on every box, to make it obvious it's not for children. Most anime imports don't have age designation labels on them which leaves it up to the discretion of agent.
