While this move will surely bring a lot of new, stressful things, we’re also so ready for this next step and welcome the great opportunities it’ll bring. ❤️
So, I’ve got exciting news, y’all!
I have accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology & Sociology at Rogers State University beginning this Fall.
My wife and I are both very excited about this journey for our family. God/the Universe has worked in mysterious ways, and many things have been falling very nicely into place for our move to Claremore, OK.
I've been on #Bluesky for 2 days now.
It's feels odd.
The platform is basically identical to this one, except the folks who converse with me can spell, and I'm not being inundated with a bunch of right-wing, inbred, mouth-breathing idiots, posting misinformation.
It's ... Eden
The more I hear different silver bullet explanations as to how/why Trump got elected, the more I think we need to embrace what intersectional scholars and activists have LONG preached:
Capitalism has ALWAYS been intertwined with racism, patriarchy, and other forms of oppression.
It is a really jarring moment to be a historian. To know what might be coming is alarming. To realize that no one around you sees it or acknowledges it is a weird place to be in. Its like time traveling without time traveling. 1/8

HAPPENING IN AN HOUR: If you are interested in understanding how we can increase disability in intersectionality theory, please consider attending this session (30639).
The following is a recruitment letter for an IRB approved research project I'm doing on disabilities and masculinity, along with an alt-text summary. Please retweet and share with anyone you know who might be interested in participating.
#CallForPapers I'm really excited to announce this special edition of the CJSD I'm helping to co-edit with one of my favorite people and the Canadian Sociology Association Disability Cluster! Link to full PDF below. #CFPSI#Disability

So...back in 1968. We stood as a student body during the speech of (?) at the chapel, left and took over the admin building. I occupied the dean's office (go figure, future) and got to use the electronic ball IBM. As I recall, the sheriff put the padlocks on the outside doors 1/
It's truly a sad state of affairs when some people believe that students should be brutally punished for having views different from their own.
It's also disappointing so many think I should be punished for supporting students' right to express dissent and protest.
@profsamperry I wish these WCNs would make up their minds: did the Founding Fathers really establish a "Christian Nation," or are they going to have to do legislative gymnastics to make it so? lol
