Horror is misunderstood ,it's much more than gore and Jumpscares. It's emotion under pressure , grief, guilt ,paranoia, loneliness ,survival, obsession, etc. Some of the most creative cinematography, sound design ,practical effects ,& story telling choices happen in horror
against all odds, I was fully unprepared for just how off-putting and uncomfortable this would be to watch. something about seeing such a classically-crafted, iconic film series translated into the aesthetics of a modern HBO prestige streamer show just feels uncanny valley wrong.
Sometimes you gotta remind people racism isn’t just saying the n word, it’s also always seeing art from Black people and POC as less than, less deserving, less intellectual-and if it’s successful it’s cause of sympathy.
