​I have a question about the rule that forces a player to stay off the pitch for 1 minute after receiving medical treatment.

​The current rules state that a player doesn't have to leave the pitch if the opponent receives a yellow or red card for the foul.

​But what happens if the referee completely misses the foul and calls a clean tackle instead?

​Just like what happened with Sarr, he was forced to leave the pitch for a minute, and Senegal was left down to 10 players against France.

​If a mistake is made, the injured player is punished twice: they get hurt, and their team is forced to play with 10 men for a minute because of a bad call.

​Is there a rule in place to protect the player when a referee makes an error like this?

Can VAR intervene to fix this specific issue so the player doesn't have to leave the field?
