Everyone at Gloucester City AFC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Gordon Hanks, father of our first-team player, Joe Hanks, following a short and incredibly tough battle with a brain tumour.

Gordon was a familiar and much-loved face at games up and down the country, proudly following Joe and supporting him throughout his footballing journey. His presence on the touchline and in the stands will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Joe and the entire Hanks family at this incredibly difficult time.

In Gordon’s memory, our players will wear black armbands during tonight’s fixture at Bracknell Town as a mark of respect.

The whole Gloucester City family stands with you, Joe.
