kimi about his championship:
“but i don’t think about the title, partly because im very superstitious and i hate it when people say i’m the strongest candidate to win and partly because i simply don’t think that way. motorsport doesn’t work like that, you have to think race by race. i like racing and winning, that’s all i think about.”

There are a significant number of people who are trying to get into sports but are inherently uncomfortable with competition, which is a really odd dynamic.
this is unrelated but eli babickova who compete against kimi in his karting years also said similar things that everyone had always thought kimi was cheating (jokingly ofc he wasnt) because of how fast he was 😭
listen to what a nascar driver connor zilisch says about kimi. he spent 4 years competing against kimi in karting. there was a moment when ppl thought it must be the engine so kimi just said "ok, let's switch then" and he was still the fastest even after switching the engine lmao

yall do realize the point of racing is to leave your opponent the least amount of space you possibly can right? like its integral to how good drivers defend, yall know that right?
kimi: i’m very happy. very happy. was a hard fought race. not straightforward at all. with the first lap everyone deploying differently and then the safety car and then the vsc we had to fight for it. but with a great team effort and very happy with the result today.
