This fall, I'll join UIUC as an assistant professor in the computer science department @IllinoisCS 😃 I'm thrilled to share this news, and I'm equally excited to start this new phase in my career and life!
@ShomirWilson I think this is work that @lujobauer did, but I couldn't recall enough keywords to find it while quickly skimming his list of publications just now
‼️Announcement‼️I'm on the academic job market! Please feel free to send me any relevant opportunities in the system security area. Job materials and contact info: https://t.co/Su1We06QK5

UW CSE is inviting a disgraced mysogonist they have publicly "disavowed" twice to give a lecture. Also, can we get a shout out for the grad students of UW CSE, who are once again giving their free time and risking their careers to build a better and more diverse CS?
I'm on the job market for academic & industry positions!!
My research is in HCI, privacy, and software engineering. I design, build, and evaluate tools that help developers create responsible apps, especially when it comes to privacy.
Info on relevant openings is appreciated!
Meanwhile, former faculty member Pedro Domingos unfortunately used the holiday weekend to yet again tweet meritless, sexist, inflammatory, attention-seeking commentary that reflects poorly on him and everyone associated with him. We, once again, repudiate his views. 2/5
My alma mater, Sharif University, is now a bloody war zone where my classmates are being beaten and arrested. The least all institutions can do is to speak up and condemn this brutal attack against Iranian students! #دانشگاه_شریف#مهسا_امینی
…may I introduce you to ⚡️⚡️DOCTOR Sarah Sterman ⚡️⚡️and her freshly signed dissertation… what an incredible 6 years of research and creativity working with us here at Berkeley and now launching off as a Research Assistant Professor at UIUC
@heycori I’ve had one negative pcr test so far as well since arriving home. Cautiously optimistic, but we aren’t necessarily beyond the possible incubation period from what I understand. I was incredibly impressed by soups covid precautions and our community’s adherence to them
Oh and I’ll be testing daily and also bought (out of pocket; I don’t expect it to be reimbursed) daily rapid tests and more than daily n95s for the student traveling with me. We’re all doing this right? … right?
Attending in-person despite covid risks was not an easy choice, and is one I’m still not totally comfy with. But I’ve got a p100, the trip is short enough that I hope to be home b4 symptoms/contagiousness could kick in, and I’m traveling with ~70 n95 masks to share (just ask)
@alexwzk@yschiangg@SOUPSConference@eshwar_chan I think the link for the poster session will be available to attendees only 5 minutes in advance via the same interface as all virtual talk sessions. Presenters should have received the link via email (I think). We’ll likely also share a zoom link on slack as it gets going.
We also have the 7th Workshop on Inclusive Privacy and Security #wips2022 happening virtually, featuring the unique/uneven privacy and security concerns experienced by vulnerable and marginalized groups. Say hi to the amazing presenters/attendees! https://t.co/1ZAFbjzUOD
Come to the in-person poster session tomorrow evening and hear about YS’s work! (I helped coordinate the poster session 🥰) Also come to the virtual poster session first thing tomorrow morning! #soups2022
Will be presenting our poster on Crumbl, a cookie awareness browser plugin, next week at @SOUPSConference. Massive thanks to @eshwar_chan for his guidance throughout the semester and @camPossible making this #soups22 trip happen!
I’m eager to connect with other attendees, but I’m gonna be looking for ways to avoid the most risky symposium events while still making the most of the trip (those with food where many others will be unmasked). So please reach out if you’d like to find a safe place to chat 😃
When parents talk to me about gaming and screens, it’s always about fear. ‘Will they get addicted?’ they ask me. ‘I can’t control my own use, how can a child do it?’. There’s so much fear that we have no time to talk about the benefits. So here are some of the things I see. 1/
