It’s very simple folks: nobody with real edge chooses a subscription business model over managing capital unless the newsletter is the business.

Then there are only two possibilities:

1. They voluntarily choose to make less money because they enjoy writing and prefer the lifestyle.

2. They make way way more money from you suckers than they ever could getting involved in markets.

It’s mostly 2.
