Wake up Australia. It’s coming for you. And you can blame yourself or
@Albomp & @JEChalmers who lied to you and introduced the new insane #CGT on all Australian business and shares. They need their heads read.
Scotland just proved the Laffer curve in real time: jack the top rate to 48p and you raise less money. The economically dumb duo Albanese and Chalmers are about to inflict the same economic vandalism on Australian capital gains only on a far bigger scale. Drive productive capital offshore, crush the people who actually build businesses and create jobs, then act surprised when the revenue collapses and the economy stagnates.
Ideology over evidence. Every single time. Keep fighting to stop this insanity. Join the war on CGT

It is clear that Khan abused legal process as well as his employees. And so the ICC dies. The court is now exposed and unsalvageable.
It’ll be the same with the Genocide Convention in the ICJ. Destroyed by pandering to false allegations.
Well done, everybody.
One of the reasons I am so against wealth taxes is that they cross a line of giving government the power to seize property.
Wealth is something people build with after-tax money. They earn, pay tax and then take a risk and invest their savings. That is the mechanism for creating wealth whether it be starting a business or buying and improving assets.
Once you finally succeed, wealth taxes allow the government to simply reach into your life, put a value on what you own and take it. They are literally seizing your property. Property you own because of money you first earned and paid tax on.
This is different in an important way from income tax. Income tax happens as you earn and … importantly…. you can choose to stop earning at any point if you want to.
If a Government chose to tax income at 50% and you didn’t want to pay it, you could simply withhold your labour and choose not work.
Not the same with a wealth tax - once you own it, it’s not actually yours… at any point the government can simply adjust the rate of wealth tax and remove it from you.
Wealth tax is fundamental a breach in the principle of your right to own property.
It’s also a slippery slope. Every tax is brought in as “only for the rich” and pretty soon it’s on everyone.
There will be a situation whereby 51% of the population can simply vote to take everything away from the 49% who have more to take. Very reliably once there is a breach in the right to own property it descends into mob rule.
The wealthy aren’t silly, they know this is the case and respond by removing all investment and wealth out of any country that breaches the principle of ownership of property.
So @garyseconomics asks what I’m thinking? I’m thinking that a wealth tax is breach in the fundamental principle of the right to own property and a pathway to mob rule. If we are lucky it will do more harm to an economy than good. If it really takes off it will crash the economy.
Gary Lineker, a man who fought HMRC like his life depended on it over a £4.9 million IR35 tax bill, is now “proud to stand” with those who want to tax everyone else more.
If a this is an issue so close to your heart Gary, why don’t you make your own donation to the treasury?
Another reason some Australians are building their futures elsewhere: 🇦🇺
In 2008, Australia’s top 45% marginal tax rate kicked in above A$180,000.
In 2026, it starts at just A$190,000.
Adjusted for inflation, the 2008 threshold would be A$290,000 today.
That’s nearly A$100,000 of silent bracket creep.
Insane.

Why do I keep banging on about the CGT changes on shares and ETFs?
Because as a millennial, we’ve spent our entire adult lives watching the goalposts move.
Housing out of reach. Cost of living through the roof.
We were told to stop buying lattes. It was the avocado toast. Just work harder. Be responsible, invest for your future. So we did.
We invested in ETFs and shares, one of the very few accessible ways an ordinary PAYG worker could build wealth when property was already out of reach.
Investing became simple, low cost and accessible thanks to technology and apps. Millions of Australians started investing.
Now the rules are changing there too.
It feels like every time our generation finds one of the few ways to get ahead, someone decides that’s the next thing to tax more.
And somehow taxing gains on ETFs and shares more heavily is all packaged up and sold as the solution to housing affordability and intergenerational wealth… yet those who benefited under the old rules are grandfathered. 🙄🫠
My neighbour said his mum - who’s always voted Labor or Greens - can’t find it in her conscience to do so at the Vic election in November.
A good sign that even rusted on voters have finally had enough of the corruption - and an indictment on those who still remain loyal to them.
In selling the Budget, the Treasurer repeatedly claimed that only “1 in 10” Australians under 35 own shares, including in his interview with @BilliFitzSimons.
That figure appears to come from Treasury modelling (later released under FOI), showing that 11% of taxpayers under 35 received dividend income.
But… if you read the fine print in the emails released under FOI it looks like Treasury ignored both capital gains and foreign trust income. If that’s right, it’s a major omission!
Less than half of ASX listed companies pay dividends, so many young Australians invested in growth shares may not have been counted. Nor, it seems, were investors in assets like crypto that generate capital gains but no dividend income.
It also appears to miss investors in ASX listed international ETFs ($150B), which distribute foreign trust income rather than franked or unfranked dividends.
If so, Treasury may have significantly understated how many young Australians invest, and therefore how many will be negatively affected by these tax changes.
Yet another example of budget modelling that underestimated the policy’s impact on younger Australians?

Question for the Treasurer @JEChalmers Can you clarify whether Treasury’s “1 in 10” figure excluded Australians under 35 whose investment returns came from capital gains or foreign income, and if so, what does Treasury estimate the true number of young investors actually is?
In the middle of a war, the Islamic Republic still finds time to flog this young women for music.
Anita Papist, a young Iranian singer, has been sentenced to 74 lashes.
Her crime? Singing and uploading her video on Instagram.
The regime confiscated her passport. Blocked her phone. Now they want to silence her voice.
This is called gender apartheid. A total apartheid against women.
Be her voice
This here by JD Vance is the most deranged gaslighting I’ve seen and heard in a long time. He honestly sounds like a delusional conspiracy theorist.
He led the MoU discussions and negotiations. It was a shit deal. It’s that simple. To hear a sitting Vice President blame the Israeli government for his own miserable failure is astounding. He really does sound like Tucker Carlson, and it’s easy to understand why anyone would make that connection.
JD chose Qatar and Pakistan, two of the most America-hating Muslim countries, to put together what can only be described as a garbage deal. Any normal person in their right mind criticized it.
It had nothing to do with Israel. And Israel didn’t really need to even do anything because Iran fucked it up pretty well on their own. We all knew they would.
How weak and insecure must you be to blame Israel, which wasn’t even part of the discussions and negotiations, for the abject failure and collapse of talks. You can’t blame Israel for Iran lying and being psychotic jihadists.
JD fucked up. Nobody else. And when somebody who is meant to be next in line to be the President of the United States can lie and pass the blame for their own pathetic failures, it speaks volumes as to their character and how they would be in office.
Absolutely disgraceful. But yet so unsurprising.
