Small change, same goal. We’re expanding into politics, economics, finance, and crypto, focused on what actually matters.

@TheMaineWonk Isn’t his whole thing tariffs to decrease the trade deficit. Not that either of those matter in isolation, but he’s no longer following his own logic
@hypocane@MichaelAArouet Also American expats in Europe are happier than Americans as well (to address your point about European’s being culturally more happy).

@hypocane@MichaelAArouet On average European’s are happier. The U.S. bats way worse than they should based on GDP (see link). Of course averages mean there are countries below and above, but even some below average are happier than US—especially ignoring Eastern Europe.

@UziCryptoo There is a line of course, but it makes sense, from a social welfare perspective, to take some from the rich, who need the money less, and give it to the poor, who need it more.
@UziCryptoo This is silly. Someone making 25k is worried about putting food on the table and a house over their head. A person making 150k can get DoorDash every day without worrying about their budget.
@lennonfan4@ScottJenningsKY Only problem: what Trump unfroze was to get us to the negotiating table. The money Obama unfroze delayed the building of nuclear weapons.
@jccarlton1400@ChrisMartzWX I don’t know why you are so triggered that the New Deal worked. Sure there are some respected people who disagree, but as a PhD in economics, I’m telling you the broad consensus among academics is that it worked (but WW II also was economically beneficial).
Oh I don’t know, government policy that prevents thugs from taking your business. Government policy that prevents insider trading. Government policy propping up a financial system so you can get equity and fixed income investment. Government policy educating children so you can hire competent employees.
@DrDiGiorgio Great this is true but they got costs more under control. In fact U.K. NHS government run health care costs less per person than how much we spend on healthcare and yet covers all its citizens.
In normal times the president doesn’t have much control over the supply of gas, but when you have a president go to war thereby reducing supply of gas by 20% then yea it’s the presidents fault.
There are always ways to make things worse, but if presidents avoid that those things, they aren’t really in control of the rest.
