@TheWineRules1 @Anthony_Klan@MichaelWestBiz Christ on a bike. Just SACK him. He's crap at the job, he gives every impression of being the most corrupt politician since Joh and is totally unaccountable. #whaddyahavetodo
@NicNat Well, if first Australian's find the date objectionable, it seems awfully obnoxious to deny their wishes on a day that is meant to celebrate the country in its entirety. Fairly hollow celebration otherwise.
Bridget McKenzie has lost the moral authority to remain in cabinet and it’s time for her to resign. And if the PM actually had any semblance of integrity, then Angus Taylor and Stuart Robert would follow her out the door.
@PeterWMurphy1 I cannot agree more. I live in a rural (Nationals voting) electorate, and our economy is defined by tourism and agriculture - two industries that have been/will be damaged by doing nothing about emissions. #lunacy#dementedbrandloyalty
I respectfully put it to you @ScottMorrisonMP that this bushfire emergency has put more jobs at risk than a sensible orderly transition to a zero carbon economy. I’m not asking you to shut down our fossil fuel industries tomorrow.
I am asking for a plan.
There have been lots (understatement alert) examples of climate science denial at The Australian over the years. I have written about lots of them. A thread.
@sspencer_63@GrogsGamut@DaveSharma The problem is that, for lots of Australia that is dependent on industries other than mining (like tourism or agriculture) doing nothing has or will undermine those economies. And is thus wildly economically irresponsible. It is NOT a binary proposition.
@pjbll Not just that Biss! They also made the problem WORSE. I am entirely over the prioritisation of polluting industries over more sustainable ones. #aintright#pollutersmustpay
I see that the champions of free speech over at News Corp have deleted an uncomfortable email from all the staff inboxes. It’s almost like they’re a bit worried about how people see their decades-long campaign of climate denialism
i'd like to point out just two of @ScottMorrisonMP's lies on @abc730 tonight:
lie: gov't is taking action on climate change.
fact: by the govt's own numbers, australia will make no meaningful emissions reductions in the 2020s.
@CybernetCowboy@Calbunn@julia_zemiro@australian Don’t want to seem pedantic, but, data not logic. Ut is not about suspicion or belief. It is about the numbers, and the OVERWHELMING and diverse evidence. You don’t have to like it. But you don’t get to decide if it’s wrong.
@timminchin What is kind of incredible is the - whilst literally on fire - “nothing to see here” aspect. As a small linguistic aside: nice to see the demise of the word ‘alarmist’. What WAS it we were alarmed about?...
Can we have a discussion about just how obnoxious it is to not want to do anything about climate change? There's an aspect of it which isn't just stupidity but belligerent stupidity.
