Ed Conway’s superb summary of ‘farmageddon’. It’s not just inheritance tax that is putting farmers into financial jeopardy. The UK farming sector is under risk from a multitude of issues including rising food imports (often unregulated in terms of food standards) from abroad, cuts to countryside flood protection, unfair supermarket purchase prices and diminishing government subsidies for actual food production.
Moderate, sensible politics might not get the most clicks.
But it’s how problems actually get solved.
Britain needs less shouting and more serious thinking about how to make things better.
There is a large group of voters who feel increasingly disconnected from today’s political choices - turned off by populism and looking for competence and realism.
Prosper UK has been formed to support a Conservative Party that is focused on growth, opportunity and responsible government, with respect for our institutions.

Tomorrow, @andy4wm and I are helping launch a new grassroots political movement.
Focusing on business, enterprise and economic growth, we want to reach those in the centre and centre right who feel politically homeless - and bring their ideas and energy to the @Conservatives
This blanket approach doesn’t make sense. Not every street has the same safety risks, traffic levels or pedestrian use. This policy is being forced on residents rather than shaped by them.
North Ayrshire Conservative group will continue to fight against this disastrous policy.
The speed limit on hundreds of roads across North Ayrshire will start to change to 20mph later this month.
A national drive to cut speed limits on certain roads to 20mph was approved back in June when Cabinet met to note the Scottish Government’s National Strategy for 20mph in Urban areas, discuss the proposed change in speed limit and agreed to its implementation.
@transcotland - the national agency that delivers the Scottish Government's vision for transport - wants to reduce speeds on suitable roads in villages, towns and cities across the country from the current 30mph limit to 20mph in the coming months.
The driving force behind the change is to improve safety – with evidence showing when a vehicle collides with a pedestrian at 30mph, they are seven times more likely to die than at 20 mph.

The SNP should abolish Scottish stamp duty on properties up to £250k.
This would reduce the cost of a new home by hundreds of pounds and help people get on to the property ladder 🏡
A ferry serving Arran could now be out of action until March 2025.
This is another devastating blow for islanders who have been totally abandoned by the SNP.
Yet still nobody has shamefully taken responsibility for the impact of their ferry scandal.
People across Scotland just want value for money from their taxes and public services that work.
Here are our 10 key proposals to save taxpayers' money and end SNP waste 👇
Congratulations to @RussellFindlay1 for becoming the next leader of the Scottish Conservative Party.
Russell will work hard to get the party back on track for the next elections in 2026 and 2027. 🎉🎉🇬🇧
‘There is no overstating just how perilous the situation is for the Scottish Conservatives. The party is in ten-minutes-to-midnight territory… Only @RussellFindlay1 shows the way forward — and the Scottish Tories should trust him to lead them.’
