🚨Prof. Jeffrey Sachs: With Europe, the situation is even worse.

Europe is in a deepening economic crisis because it has cut itself off from natural trade with Russia.

It is trying to conduct a militarization which the public doesn't want, which can only lead to grief in the end, on
the pretext of Russian aggression to Europe.

And the European economy is actually worse than stagnant right now. It's in decline, not only because of the energy crisis and because of the war, but also because Europe has lost its competitiveness to China as well as has the United States. So the cost of us continuing in this direction economically, socially, and potentially in terms of military escalation is phenomenal.
And an objective, rational assessment of where we are would say, stop the war. Ukraine becomes neutral. NATO announces it's not going to expand. Whatever armistice settlement on territory is done is done with whatever language one wants. And when it comes to Iran, the United States just goes home from this terrible misadventure.
This is how to get out of this. But it would require exposing the vacuity, the stupidity, the sheer cynicism of what this political class has been doing for decades, in fact. And they don't want to be exposed this way.
