Today House Republicans will pass a bill to retroactively charge student loan borrowers interest on their paused payments, repeal @POTUS' student loan debt relief plan, and claw back aid from public servants.
Cruelty is the point.
Tenants from throughout the city standing online 2 get into the RGB preliminary vote hearing. We’re ready 2let the board know we need a RENT ROLLBACK!”Landlords are going down, New York is a workers town.” @caaav@CASAbronx@GOLESNYC@Met_Council@ST_PCV_Tenants@WSNANYC@NYWFP
🚨NEWS: Documents show John Roberts threatened to challenge or ignore ethics rules if lawmakers imposed them on the court.
Now he's refusing to testify before Congress & has shifted a corruption probe to a secret panel and won't disclose its members. https://t.co/qJ30OjYBcu
And btw, we know why they’re “considering it”.
It’s a political buffer strategy.
It won’t be 16%…but they likely want to go very high so when they do it’ll be “well at least it wasn’t 16%. Could’ve been worse…it’s only 10%.”
We’re onto them and will raise hell.
TONIGHT, the RGB (the unelected city board that sets the percentage that rent is allowed to increase on all rent stabilized units every year) casts their preliminary vote, and is considering a rent increase of 16% on all rent stabilized units. We say no way!
🚨I’m bringing the tenant protests to Twitter TONIGHT.
The Rent Guidelines Board will vote at 7 PM at Cooper Union whether to approve this 16% rent increase.
Whole tenant community will be out there at 6 marching. I’ll be live tweeting so be ready!
Hey y’all. Just fyi that I’m spending today RT tenant voices who are testifying before the NYC Rent Guidelines Board today.
(It’ll be a lot of tweets).
The board determines the rent for rent stabilized apts and they’re talking 16% rent increase. Oh hell no!
As a former member of the Rent Guidelines Board, I am shocked at the high rent increases that have been floated around.
A 16% rent increase in the midst of a behemoth housing crisis would be unconscionable.
@ABC7 interviewed me about it
She was worthy enough to whip your ass. What’s beneath contempt is more and more republicans like you losing like this—whining, weak shells of a candidacy unwilling to concede defeat.

Shame on @axios, which I’ve decided to unfollow. I’ll follow @bengang_ instead, in solidarity with Ben Montgomery and to protest Axios’s decision to fire Ben for calling DeSantis on his propaganda.
Axios had a right to fire him, but that didn’t make it right for Axios to do so.
Corporate profits only accounted for roughly 11% of price growth from 1979 to 2019.
Today, record corporate profits account for 53.9% of price increases.
Folks, corporate greed is driving inflation, not workers asking for better wages.
For decades the U.S. has been deferential to Russia, buying into Russia’s exceptionalism and acting on hopes of cooperation and fears of conflict rather than on likely outcomes.
