@MaryBethO_ This made my day, Mary Beth! I will forward this to my students so they can message you. I am truly grateful for you and your willingness to help!
Please help my great #socialwork students! Anyone work at a #recovery center using #harmreduction or #safeinjection strategies? Students in my #addiction course are creating a mini-documentary on harm-reduction practices and would love to interview people in this area!
They have received only NO's from their requests so far. I suggested that perhaps they will have to be more expansive and consider #Canada#Portugal#Netherlands or other European countries. Basically, they just want to hear about the benefits of harm-reduction programs.
Overdose deaths have skyrocketed in Alabama, driven in large part by fentanyl. Some in Alabama are trying to make lifesaving tools like naloxone more readily available.

I sincerely hope now that she will never again face a far right challenge that @GovernorKayIvey will expand Medicaid and use it to expand mental health services, and general health care, across Alabama. With the proliferation of guns here & our lack of services... don't wait.
People with mental illness are more likely to be the victims of violence than perpetrators, but mass shootings are often incorrectly associated with psychiatric illnesses. https://t.co/xSS0MqOmBl

Here in Alabama, @GovernorKayIvey has issued a similar mental health explanation for school shootings. It is an easy scapegoat because people often fear mental illness bc they don’t understand it. Governor Ivey just prepare for a different explanation when a tragedy happens here.
Just watched a clever PR press conference on the #UvaldeMassacre with @GregAbbott_TX and others deflecting from the real issue of guns to #mentalhealth Well-planned PR to blame mental illness although Abbott mentioned there was no know hx of mental illness.
Also Abbott said that he had worked to pass 17 bills meant to “harden” schools and hold them accountable for assessing threats. We just witnessed there is not much an elementary school can do to know about this threat in advance. I’m not saying ban guns but ban assault rifles.
