Alongside the assessment exercise, the MUST Disability and Technical Committee held a meeting to review the outcomes of the disability assessment and discuss possible interventions.
The meeting emphasized the need for continuous collaboration with lecturers and departments to ensure academic flexibility, accessibility, and holistic support for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
With over 100 students and staff with disabilities, @MbararaUST continues to champion inclusion through its Disability and Special Needs Policy, accessible infrastructure, and sign language training.
These ongoing efforts reflect the university’s unwavering commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and empowering academic community.
Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika congratulated the graduates, highlighting that the pedagogy certificate will be a key requirement during appraisals, academic audits, and other processes for academic advancement. She extended her gratitude to Dr. Medard Twinamatsiko, Prof. Julius Lejju, Dr. Julius Tumusiime, and Mr. Sudi Balimuttajjo for developing the certificate course within the competence-based framework for MUST and organizing both the training and the graduation ceremony. The event was a celebration of achievement and progress in advancing academia at MUST.
MUST held its 2nd graduation ceremony of the Institutional Pedagogy and Competence-Based Education training for 99 academic staff bringing the total of all graduates to 173. MUST is ready to receive students trained under Uganda's revised lower secondary school curriculum, which emphasises skills development and learner participation.

Dr. Owepegba coordinates the UNESCO China-Funds-In-Trust (CFIT) III that funded the one-month-long training.
Prof. Nixon Kamukama and Dr. Medard Twinamatsiko were commended for successfully leading the UNESCO-CFIT project with tangible outputs of the curricula review assessments, competence-based training undertaken, the innovative entrepreneurship-based short courses developed, and innovations supported.
