This JPC proposal should concern every CA — not just small firms.

1️⃣ Small Company definition expanded massively
Paid-up capital: ₹20 Cr
Turnover: ₹200 Cr

2️⃣ Audit exemption proposed for certain private companies — subject to prescribed conditions.

What looks like “Ease of Doing Business” today could become a major blow to the audit profession tomorrow.

If thousands of companies move outside mandatory audit:

❌ Tier-3 & Tier-2 CA firms will feel the impact first.
❌ Even Tier-1 firms may eventually face pressure.
❌ Audit assignments → ↓
❌ Professional opportunities → ↓
❌ Fee pressure → ↑

Big 4 / large firms may absorb the shock.
But the real impact could fall on the thousands of small & mid-sized CA firms across India.

Audit is not merely a compliance cost.
It is a pillar of financial transparency, accountability and stakeholder confidence.
