Canalside Residents' Association represents the interests of people living on Whitmore Estate, Haggerston East Estate & Bryant Court in Hoxton & Haggerston.
Very sorry to see that Terry Downey, Chair of @Canalside_RA, has recently passed away. He was a great advocate for residents of the Whitmore Estate, and was passionate about his neighbourhood and about Hackney. RIP and my thoughts are with his family.

Pleased to see a 4th rapid test site has opened in Hackney, this time in Hoxton/Shoreditch at Geffrye Community Hall.
This means there are now 4 Council sites now open across the borough to support those who need to leave home to work, volunteer or have caring responsibilities👇

This is Oxbow Island, on the River Lea, opposite the bottom of Southwold Road and Lathams estate E5 - a wonderful overgrown wild area of land and haven for river birds, still just about surviving. With the new plans for a double size ice rink, it is likely to disappear as such.
In 40 years the proportion of the UK population living in council housing has dropped from 42% to 8%
We need to demand more of our politicians who too often settle for a developer building a few council homes in a huge development of private flats.
