■概要
田舎道を歩いていると
古い民家の壁などに

赤い背景に白文字で
「マルフク」と書かれた看板を度々見かける

看板には
「電話の金融・レンタル」という文字と
電話番号が記載されている

そのため
闇金や違法業者を連想する人もいるが
実はそうではない

■正体

マルフクは
かつて全国展開していた電話担保金融業者

当時の固定電話は
契約するだけで使えるものではなく
設置には電話加入権という権利が必要だった

そしてこの権利には資産価値があり
担保として利用することができた。

■電話担保金融

マルフクは
その電話加入権を担保にして
融資を行う会社だった

現在では想像しづらいが
当時は電話加入権そのものに高い価値があった

■全国へ拡大

そしてマルフクは
一般家庭へ看板設置を依頼し
謝礼を支払うことで知名度を広げていった

その結果 最盛期には
全国で約200か所もの営業所を持つほど成長

しかし2000年代に入ると

携帯電話が急速に普及

それに伴い固定電話の需要は減少

電話加入権の価値も大きく下落してしまった

こうした時代の変化により

マルフクは2002年頃から営業所を縮小
2009年には廃業

それでも
かつて設置された看板の多くは撤去されず
現在も全国各地に残っている
