every time i watch “uptown girls” i’m struck by how gorgeous it looks. most of my favorite 00s rom-coms are shot like a sitcom, but michael ballhaus was a go-to cinematographer for martin scorsese + mike nichols.
his eye adds so much to what makes this movie special!
— what?! critics didn’t understand the complexity of the teacup scene representing the grief that ray was experiencing & kept pushing molly away. however, molly’s still there for ray besides all of that — letting her know she wasn’t going anywhere. this is academy-award winning!
the show truly peaked when max was the main focus. this entire sequence was so bone chilling. her whole arc this season was so incredibly well done, and you genuinely felt worried about her. the ending of this episode too? not knowing what’s about to happen to her— masterpiece. sadie sink will go down in my books as one of the few who truly carried this show.
