I was looking at my old art today... And its honestly devastating how much going to school for animation and working in the animation industry affected me.
I used to draw so much, every single day. I'm trying to get my spark back, but burnout recovery has been hard.
Going through a very rough patch and feeling disconnected and down...
If you had a moment, I'd really like to know --
What made you follow me?
Have I made anything or done anything that is memorable to you?
Is there anything about my art you enjoy?
I've been weirdly uncomfortable and hesitant to post on here as 'edmeadart'. I censored myself so much out of fear of being seen as unprofessional, that I ended up not posting at all. I'm no longer chasing that approval, so it feels freeing to go by a username again. 🧡
I hope people will support me with my next endeavor outside of indie. I know not everyone will, and that's fine. But animation doesn't feed into my life anymore. It never gave back. It didn't give me stability or peace. Now I'm only doing it on my terms and I'm so much happier.
This is why Andromeda Squad didn't cost a dime and I shelved the project I invested $4k into before I got caught up in sunk cost fallacy. This is also why I don't work in indie animation (or studio animation tbh) anymore, and why I'm working on growing my small business instead.
Make an indie project because you want to. Make it yourself, with friends, with other artists that wanna make something. If you have the cash for it, go for it. But don't expect to make money back, and DEFINITELY don't go into it thinking you'll be able to sustain yourself on it
Huge shoutout to our pilot Andromeda Squad’s amazing VAs: @Gaismister, @kaotickiii, and @natedufort !!
Their talent and incredible acting brought so much life to the script and characters. It was such a joy to work with each of them!!

I had the privilege of storyboarding some of this short! It was easily one of my favorite indie shows I've ever worked on, and it made me laugh out loud. Please go check it out! Keyan and the team knocked it out of the park.
My animated pilot, Para(NOT!)Normal, is currently premiering on YouTube! It's been many years in the making and I'm really excited for the world to see it. https://t.co/K184IpO0ZD
