When my father-in-law died in 2019, my UNHCR team in Abuja, Adikpo, Maiduguri put together $7,000 for his funeral in Southern Tanzania. They never knew that at that point in the Representative's (my) account there was only $57. My team enabled me. How do I appreciate such love?

@NationAfrica This visa issue is a case of Africans subsidizing the UK & US. If Kenya, Nigeria & South Africa alone seek together 800,000 visas/year @ 250$ & half are approved. Those not approved are donating the rich countries $100 million/year for no return. & these are not the real numbers!

For some reason, complicit silence perpetuates the notion that Kilimanjaro is a touristic attraction better associated with Kenya. That sustains unnecessary but palpable rivalries between the two countries.

Swahili as a continental language. We propose that at the July Lusaka AU Summit, Presidents of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi & Mozambique deliver in Swahili. That will raise the stakes very high & will mobilize huge social, political & economic investments on the language.

Exit strategy is key to ending conflict. Otherwise the conflict itself becomes self-perpetuating, justifying presence without cut-off date!
