It’s called animal control. And who gets to decide what constitutes “animal cruelty?” I’m sorry, but generally the people obsessed with animal welfare are actually grossly misinformed about what actually constitutes animal “cruelty.” So many have an issue, for instance, with livestock guardian dogs that live outdoors with their flocks. “If they’re cold you’re cold!” False - the dogs are not happy as indoor couch potato pets. As long as their needs are met, adequate food, water, shelter, and space, people should mind their own business, and that includes government officials. And because we live in such a hair-trigger society, of COURSE I believe that animals whose needs are neglected or are abused should be taken away from bad owners. But again, that’s what animal control already exists for.
@jason_howerton You’re right, but who even knows if this is all real anyways. Everyone lies to spin a narrative. And if it’s true, then the “system” failed him by telling him white people were a deadly threat and BLM etc. should be ashamed for the part they play in this crap.
It’s awful. Folks need to understand their dogs - pack dog mentality is a real thing so if you are going to have a pack out on a public trail, you MUST have them under control at all times. Otherwise you are just asking for an incident like with your dog. And hunting dogs have VERY strong pack instincts. But people would rather pretend that every dog is Lassie saving a kid from the bottom of the well. They will often blame everyone besides their dog as well.
We need to grow up as a society. There should be severe consequences for this kind of behavior, on both parents and kids. The incentive and permission structures have to change, and that won’t happen until we demand it and conservatives step up into positions in our government to enforce it.
@McJuggerNuggets The “social media rot” you speak of - does it include monetizing content off the back of a dead unborn baby and then playing the victim?
The surveillance footage shows the exact moment the pit bull was completely unleashed on a public sidewalk, the owner is facing severe, clear-cut civil liability.
In most municipalities, animal control will heavily investigate, levy steep fines, and mandate strict containment or muzzling orders.
The victim has a rock-solid case to sue for total compensation of all veterinary bills, emergency surgery costs, and the severe emotional distress stemming from this negligence.
If you are a dog owner, keep your animal on a leash. No exceptions. The action in this video speaks for itself.
This is a combination of many things coming to a head. Bad breeding. Inadequate laws and law enforcement. Irresponsible rescues/shelters. Irresponsible/incapable owners. Lack of knowledge about this breed in general. Placing the good of dogs above the good of human beings. More incidents like this are coming unless our culture course-corrects.
We no longer live in a high trust society due to people like this - bite laws should be VERY strict. Otherwise we are going to see more and more incidents like these. People cannot be trusted to do the right thing with dangerous animals because they want to cling to their toxic empathy narratives. Dogs are apex predators, and some breeds are inherently more dangerous. Public safety must come before narrative-based feelings.
This is the one of the most egregious symptom of the cultural rot in American society. When priorities are disordered, dramatic consequences ensue. The false narrative around dogs and their place in our civilization is literally costing lives - both human and canine.
